LogM Penang Study Trip (November 2016)

Description of the Event
A total of 59 students attended the conference titled “Regional Logistics and Transport Conference 2016” in Prince of Wales International School, Balik Pulau, Pulau Penang. There were 5 speakers had given the speeches on the conference. There were Ms. Corina Tan, Dr. Ng Teng Khai, Dr. Adam Mohd Saifudin, Log.Tang Siang Nee and Log. Paul Lui. It was a great experience for students to explore their knowledge in the field of logistics. Our itinerary for 25th November 2016 was as follows:

0800                Depart from Westlake Basketball Court
1200                Reach and lunch at the restaurants around Balik Pulau
1300                Depart to Prince of Wales International School
1315                Arrival at Prince of Wales International School
1400                Dato’ Dr. Yee Thiam Sun gave a brief prologue
1430                Dr. Adam Mohd. Saifudin gave his speech of the topic of “Halal Logistics: Critical Factors Outcome towards the New Islamic Supply Chain Model”
1515                Tea Break
1530                Ms. Corina Tan gave her speech of the topic of “Rise to the Challenge”
1600            Dr. Ng Teng Khai gave her speech of the topic of “Don’t Underestimate the Seriousness of Depression at Workplace! What can I do? ”
1730              Log. Tang Siang Nee gave her speech of the topic of “Reverse Logistics for Recycling”
1800                Log. Paul Lui gave his speech of the topic of “Safety of Life at Sea 2016. Why now?”
1830                Depart from Prince of Wales International School
2000              Dinner at Kawasan Rehat & Rawat Gunung Semanggol South Bound (Lebuhraya Utara - Selatan, 34400 Simpang Empat Semanggol, Perak)
2100                Depart to Westlake Basketball Court

The participants were having their lunch at Balik Pulau before went to the Conference.



The participants registered their names at the counter before entering the auditorium.



A speech given by the guest of honour, Dato’ Dr. Yee Thiam Sun (state commander of St. John Ambulance of Malaysia, Penang) at the Regional Logistics and Transport Conference 2016.

A presentation on “Reverse Logistics for Recycling” by Log. Tang Siang Nee, committee member, WiLAT, Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (Penang).



A presentation on “Rise to the Challenge” by Ms. Corina Tan, committee member, WiLAT, Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (Penang).



A presentation on “Halal Logistics: Critical Factors Outcome towards the New Islamic Supply Chain Model” by Dr. Adam Mohd Safuidin, vice president of the Society of Logisticians Malaysia (LogM).

It can be concluded that the event was a successful one and there was no unwanted incidents or accidents throughout the trip.

Recruitment Drive Showcase (October 2016)

DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY 

Recruitment Drive October 2016 of Logistics and International Shipping Society   was conducted from 24 October 2015 until 28 October 2016. It was located at Student Pavilion II, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Kampar Campus. The event was held from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00p.m. 
The recruitment drive was organized with the objectives to attract bright students to be a member of Logistics and International Shipping Society, increase awareness of Logistics and International Shipping Society and create membership of Logistics and International Shipping Society. 
In order to promote this recruitment drive, information about Logistics and International Shipping were posted on the decorative board. Other than that, members on duty were responsible for giving explanations.  


There were a total of 11 members on duty during these five days. There were 4 registration of ordinary membership through this event. A total of RM40.00 membership fees were collected, which is RM10.00 per year for ordinary members and RM5 per year for associated member.

Fund Raising (October 2016)

Fund Raising October 2016 of Logistics and International Shipping Society was conducted from 24th October 2016 until 28th October 2016. The event was held from 10.00 am to 4.00pm at Student Pavilion I, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Kampar Campus. We were selling egg tarts, special drinks and Gui Ling Gao. The special drinks had two flavours that are rebina and honey could be chosen. The customer could buy three egg tarts in set at RM5.00 .The committee members and helpers were taking turns to duty at the booth from 10.00 am to 4pm. Before that, some members decorated board to attract customers. In spite of the cooperation of all members, the event run smoothly without any problems arise.

Food and Beverage Convocation Selling (August 2016)

DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY


Convocation Food Street was held from 19th August 2016 until 21st August 2016. The event was start from 6am until 6pm which located at pathway of Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, University Tunku Abdul Rahman. We were selling nasi lemak , ice honey lemon and 100 Plus. The nasi lemak was sold well during morning session. Besides, the 100 Plus and ice honey lemon also sold well during afternoon session due to the hot weather. Moreover, the committee members were coming at 5am for preparation while the helpers were taking turns to duty at the booth from 8am to 6pm. For the convenience of people, we also provide mobile selling. In addition, some members also decorate the board with colourful picture to attract the customers. In spite of the cooperation of all members, the event ran smoothly. Some photos were attached at the next page.

Logistics Trip (June 2016)


DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY  

On 25th June 2016 until 26th June 2016, there are 32 participants, 16 committees and 1 advisor had joined Logistic Trip June 2016 which located at Outbac Broga Adventure Camp.

At 7:00 a.m., all committees gathered at Westlake basketball court. Committees started to do the preparation for registration. At 7:20 a.m., the participants started to gather and registered from the organizing secretary. At 8:00 a.m., the event committee set off to campsite. In the bus , the opening ceremony is started. First, our organizing chairperson, Lim Zi Xuan gave a welcome speech to all the participants. Next, organizing secretary Connie Lai Kar Wei introduced the rules and regulations of this camp to the participants.

It took around 4 hours to reach Outbac Broga Adventure Camp. After reached, the person in-charge of the camp site explained about the rules and regulation of the campsite. Then, we checked in at 12:30 p.m. and gathered at canteen to eat the lunch at 1.00 p.m. At 2:00 p.m., event committee start our first game that is raft building. All participants, committees and advisor divided into two group to play this competitive game. At 3:00 p.m., event start to play another game that is wet course and after half hour we continue the game called punctured drums. In wet course and punctured drums games, all participants, committees and advisor strengthen their team bond and maximizes their capability to overcome obstacles in games. At 4:30 p.m., participants started to play another game that is climbing wall that require a lot of energy. The last game is kayaking which end at 6:30 p.m. and participants, committees and advisor play kayaking in the lake. After kayaking, all the participants had given one hour and half to rest and bath then having their dinner. 

After dinner, the interaction session had started. After team formation had done, each group had chosen their group leader and also think their group name and group slogan. At least one committee had been distributed to each group to observe the performance of each group. After that, group leaders of each group came out and present their own group name and slogan. Afterward, all participants are given time to create own special souvenir. After this, our year 1 trimester 1 junior come out to give an introduction about themselves and our advisor gave a speech to close the interaction section.

On second day, from early morning 5:30 a.m., Broga Hill Hiking was started. It took around 3 hours to complete. At 8:30 am, whole participants eat breakfast at canteen and we start the game flying fox at 9:00 a.m. Everyone enjoy in this last game of this trip. At 10:00 a.m., all participants, committees and advisor bath and pack their stuff. At 11a.m., we check out from Outbac Broga Adventure Camp and eat the lunch in nearby shop. After lunch, whole participants set off to Westlake basketball court. The closing ceremony was started by the speech of organizing chairperson on the bus. Without any delays, the buses had arrived Kampar at 4 p.m. A two days one night trip had been ended.

As a conclusion, this was a successful event which without happened any unwanted or incidents during the camp.

Talk Series (June 2016)



DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY 
 

A total of students attended the Talk Series June 2016, organized by the Logistics and International Shipping Society. There were 4 guest speakers invited to give their expertise on the theme ‘Light Up Logistics, Build On Economy’. 

The speakers were Dr. Yudi Fernando, from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Mr. Wee Ah Sah, from Selangor Freight Forwarders Logistics Association, Prof. Choong Chee Keong, from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman and Dr. Teo Bee Yap, from Skynet. The event was also attended by students from UCSI University and AK Academy. 

The event started at 12.00 p.m. with the arrival of the guest speakers and the Dean from the Faculty of Science, Dr. Lim Tuck Meng. The opening ceremony started with the national anthem, and was followed by an opening address from Dr. Lim Tuck Meng. All 4 guest speakers and Dr. Lim were presented with souvenirs as a token of appreciation. 

Firstly, Professor Choong spoke about the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement and its effect towards the economy. Next, Dr. Teo Bee Yap gave a talk on how e-commerce and logistics are interrelated. After the first two speakers finished their talks, there was a break of 35 minutes. When the break ended, the third guest speakers was Dr. Yudi Fernando, who spoke about value co-creation and provided some insight from the perspective of third party logistics. Last but not least, Mr. Wee Ah Sah gave a talk about the readiness of Malaysia regarding the One Belt One Road initiative by China. The event ended at 4.30 p.m.
