Talk Series (June 2016)



DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY 
 

A total of students attended the Talk Series June 2016, organized by the Logistics and International Shipping Society. There were 4 guest speakers invited to give their expertise on the theme ‘Light Up Logistics, Build On Economy’. 

The speakers were Dr. Yudi Fernando, from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Mr. Wee Ah Sah, from Selangor Freight Forwarders Logistics Association, Prof. Choong Chee Keong, from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman and Dr. Teo Bee Yap, from Skynet. The event was also attended by students from UCSI University and AK Academy. 

The event started at 12.00 p.m. with the arrival of the guest speakers and the Dean from the Faculty of Science, Dr. Lim Tuck Meng. The opening ceremony started with the national anthem, and was followed by an opening address from Dr. Lim Tuck Meng. All 4 guest speakers and Dr. Lim were presented with souvenirs as a token of appreciation. 

Firstly, Professor Choong spoke about the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement and its effect towards the economy. Next, Dr. Teo Bee Yap gave a talk on how e-commerce and logistics are interrelated. After the first two speakers finished their talks, there was a break of 35 minutes. When the break ended, the third guest speakers was Dr. Yudi Fernando, who spoke about value co-creation and provided some insight from the perspective of third party logistics. Last but not least, Mr. Wee Ah Sah gave a talk about the readiness of Malaysia regarding the One Belt One Road initiative by China. The event ended at 4.30 p.m.
